The Ship Whisperer is an account of the life and times of Captain George L. Moore, who gave 35 years of devoted service as a Docking master in Jacksonville, FL. You will read tales of how he stuffed a crewman's mattress in a large hole knocked into the tug by ice to keep the tug from sinking into the frozen Chesapeake Bay – to chauffeuring President Roosevelt’s son around Jacksonville in his new 1959 Mercury Park Lane – to miraculously guiding a massive ship under the Acosta Bridge in Jacksonville that wouldn’t open, with only inches to spare!  He did all of this without even breaking into a sweat.  The photos and documents contained in this book are from Captain George’s personal archive, which rivals most museums.
